[KGSP] Part 7 - Final Result Announcement + University visit

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

So finally, the final round of result is announced. Out of the university that granted you admission, you have to make your final choice and submit it back to NIIED. Some university also requires you to notify them separately too. I was in the middle of holiday in South Korea when it was time to make my final choice. I decided to visit Sungkyunkwan University and Yonsei University, trying to get some study vibes.

YONSEI UNIVERSITY

SUNGKYUNKWAN UNIVERSITY

I sent out my final choice email back to NIIED a day before the deadline. It was such a tough decision to make and it was bothering me the whole time during my holiday. So today is the day that NIIED finally reveal the final list of candidates with their final choice of university + the random Korean Language Programme university (only for those who are not exempted from Korean Language Programme).

So there goes my final choice! Believe me, I had it tough contemplating between Yonsei University and Sungkyunkwan University. Yonsei University has always been my dream university and was the only reason that I have decided to apply for this scholarship. I decided to go with my guts and choose Yonsei University. I hope I can do well and not disappoint myself.

Because I have submitted my TOPIK II Level 5 certificate, I am hence exempted from the mandatory Korean Language Programme and will be starting my Master's degree in September 2019. Kinda want to go for a few months of Korean Language Programme tho, but oh well, I am good with everything now :)

Looking back at the final list announced by NIIED, I still cannot believe I actually did it. From getting the nerve wrecking email from Korean embassy for interview to receiving the dream email from Yonsei University for granting me admission to the university (also meaning a confirmation of getting the scholarship overall). Oh boy, how did I manage to overcome all that.

Together with the final announcement, NIIED has also provided a lot of useful information such as Korean Life Guidebook, which I think will be a bible for a lot of us who are probably panicking now worrying about the life in Korea that we have to experience soon.

There are still so many things to settle and submit upon arrival in South Korea, such as visa application, flight ticket booking, and maybe more medical checkup for visa purpose (?). Yikes! More things to settle and get ready with.
