Before you start reading this, I just want to clarify that none of the products mentioned in this post are sponsored. It is a true review and I just wanted to share because it works well on my skin :)
Korea and Malaysia's weather is so different that it is still challenging for me to take care of my skin whenever the season change. My skin gets dry more often in Korea because unlike Malaysia, the humidity is relatively low here. When my skin gets dry here, it stays dry for a long time even after I apply lots of moisturising skin care to save it. However, it took me 3-4 days or sometimes overnight in Malaysia (a good face mask), to get my skin moisturised again. Of course, by using the correct skin care product.
I've used a ton of masks before and some just doesn't work for me. Innisfree, Mirae Beauty and Banila Co. was a few that I purchased previously but stop using because I don't see any result (although they do have amazing products other than masks that I use daily, maybe I will write about makeup products in another post). Jayjun's mask is not bad too but I've only used it once because it is wayy expensive. So far, there are only 2 brands of face mask that I've used and repurchased it due to its quality and its effect on my skin. It moisturised almost instantly and my makeup can be done so easily the next day. They are face mask from the brand Dr. Jart+ and Mediheal. They are so good that I never turned to any other brands after using them.
Dr. Jart+
Dr. Jart+'s face mask is definitely on the expensive side if you compared it with other masks that you can widely see at Olive Young, Lalavla, LOHB's and etc. Normally, one box (5pcs) of Dr. Jart+ masks cost around 25,000won (approx. RM90), so one piece is 5,000won (approx. RM18). It also almost never do any discounts of events because it is still getting the sales by selling at a premium price. I guess when your product is that good, no matter how premium the price is, people will still buy it. Quality speaks!
They have various type of masks to tackle different problems. Normally I would go for the 'Vital Hydra Solution' - the blue one, that mainly does moisturising. And if I have the flex to chose and mix, I would go for either Soothing or Brightening. These are the main 3 types that I use when I purchase Dr.Jart+'s masks. Dr Jart+ also have another type of mask called the Cryo Rubber Masks that is sold at a much higher price, around 12,000won (approx. RM 36) per piece. I have never tried that before because it is too expensive LOL so if anybody wants to sponsor me to try...you are welcome :D
The masks always give me a very adequate amount of moisture that my skin needs. It doesn't feel sticky or has a chemical smell to it. It also doesn't make you want to wash your face after doing your mask because of how uncomfortable the residue is on your skin. Whenever my skin gets dry or when I have a bad makeup day, I will definitely use this mask that night before I sleep. My skin gets so much better the next day and I just have to continue moisturising my skin like I always do to maintain it.
If I am in Korea, I get them at the nearest Olive Young or order them online. If I am in Malaysia, I normally get them online through Hermo Beauty (they sometimes do discounts on them so you can keep an eye on it. Eventhough I might still have a lot left and is not out of stock, I will just grab at least 2 boxes of the mask from Hermo when they have discounts event. You will regret if you don't!)
Mediheal
I started to use Mediheal's masks not too long ago. I went for a short trip at Incheon and decided to enjoy a relaxing night in the hotel, doing face mask. So I went to Olive Young and was looking around for face masks. Because I already have Dr. Jart+'s masks at home, I didn't want to buy again, so I wanted to try something new. I saw Mediheal's masks were selling at a discount at only 1,500won. I've always seen this masks around but I have never really tried it because the packaging weren't really aesthetically pleasing to me and didn't really attract my attention. But I decided to try it because it was cheap.
To my surprise, it works really well! There isn't an overwhelming amount of serum soaked in the cotton masks. To me, that is important. Because sometimes when the serum is too much, my skin gets stuffy as it gets overwhelmed by the amount of serum I put on my face for 15mins. As usual, I need to moisturise my skin more than I need brightening or soothing, so I bought the 'N.M.F Aquaring' masks. For those who has oily skin and breakouts, I would recommend the soothing mask which is the 'Teatree care solution' mask. It calms your skin down and reduce acne breakouts and redness.
I think this is a very good substitute for Dr. Jart+'s masks if you are on a budget or just couldn't find any masks nearby, or simple want to try a good mask!
