Back in November 2019, when COVID-19 did not happen yet in South Korea, it was probably one of my busiest month as I have tons of volunteering activities in school. NU'EST decided to do a 3-day fan meeting (more like a mini concert) at Olympic Park KSPO Dome. It is an indoor arena located within the Olympic Park, and has catered to a lot of fan meeting, concerts and sports events throughout the years. It is reeeaaally huge!!
It was a rainy day in the Autumn-turn-Winter season, so it was very windy and chilly. Most of the people were wearing their fleece, wind breakers and padded jacket. It was my first ever fan meeting/concert in South Korea and I was very very excited. Although it is a 3-day event, the tickets were sold separately. However, it was not easy to get one. I did not manage to get one initially, but my friend who is also a ㄴㅇㅅㅌ got it for me at the standard 55,000won (approx. RM 192) 팬클럽 선얘매 price. People were selling it at 1.5 or even double the price. So, I am very thankful for the ticket :D On top of that, my ticket was for the final day fan meeting.
It was a Sunday (11/17), the concert starts at 5PM, slightly earlier than any other day of the concert, probably because the next is Monday and people have to work, so they wanted to make sure it ends on time. So I got out from my house at around 3PM and reached the venue at 4PM. It was raining so I had to bring an umbrella there. I immediately saw a flood of people in the subway station trying to get shelter from the rain and also a flock of people outside the stadium trying to grab something to eat. All the restaurants and cafe along the path towards the arena was packed with people.
It was so windy so taking a picture of the banners of NU'EST was a challenge. And because of the rain, the banners kinda stick together at some point so I couldn't really take a nice picture of all of the members.
So arriving there early, I met up with my friend to get the tickets because she was claiming hers from the booth at the venue itself. I knew it was going to be dark after the concert so I decided to take this "traditional" photo by standing in front of the stadium to take a picture with the huge banner behind to "check in" to the concert on SNS LOL As you can see, everybody was holding an umbrella, wearing long jackets because it was so cold.
I went around taking photos of the fan support events around the arena but I was low key nervous as hell. I don't know why but it has been a few years since I've met NU'EST in Malaysia. And when they did a world tour concert for "Segno", they went to Malaysia on the day I left for Korea. The whole schedule was a disaster for me. I was so sad that I could not be there for their first concert in Malaysia. I knew this one is definitely not to be missed.
After entering the arena, I was surprised how close my seat was to the stage. It might look far from pictures but I can see each of their faces very clearly from my seat. I was scanning all the fan slogan and event that the fans have planned to show NU'EST and made sure I take part in the event haha The fangirl beside me was asking if I want some extra stickers of Min Hyun that she printed and she let me choose how many I wanted. Such kind hearted people ㅜㅜ
I still remember how emotional I got when NU'EST came out and started singing "Hello" which is my absolute favorite song of them. It was an older song that they have released before they went on to Produce 101, before their popularity sky rocketed. I was their fan way before Produce 101 and I bought all of their albums. I am happy that they had this miracle turn of an event happened, so I had at least a chance to see them perform on stage again. So, I cried and sobbed SO MUCH as soon as the finger snapping beat drop from the beginning of the song. All the emotions just flooded me. I felt like although they have come so far, but they are still the NU'EST that I know.
Videos and photography were prohibited during the concert so I did not try to take any and just wanted to enjoy their songs and performances. It was well worth it. I wished Min Hyun sang his solo song "Universe", because I was so hooked on that song during that time.
The concert ended with NU'EST walking around the arena. YES, in the middle of the crowd of fans. They wanted fans at the back to be able to see them clearer. I guess I wasn't seated as far to be blessed with a glimpse of them 1m away from me.
Post concert syndrome is definitely true. I felt so empty going home that day. I couldn't stop scrolling Twitter to download pictures that other fans took and watch fancams that other fans took. I just wanted to relived the moment and restart the concert again LOL
