This time, I've brought something even more exciting! What, you may ask?
It's chi to the ken. It is FRIED CHICKEN! Mexicana Chicken launched the Buldak Chicken 불닭치킨 few months back and they are making a come back with a new flavour Carbo Buldak Chiken 까르보불닭치킨. Both flavours are collaboration with Samyang, the company that originated the Buldak flavoured instant noodle. Another reason of giving this a try is because Kang Daniel is the brand ambassador! Don't you want a chicken takeaway box with Kang Daniel's face? Okay maybe not everybody haha
Mexicana Chicken's Carbo Buldak Fried Chicken 멕시카나 까르보 불닭치킨 - 18,000won
Sadly for me, Kang Daniel did not visit me... I guess they ran out of that box since the new flavour came out a week ago (May 20). The original Buldak came out on February which was 3 months ago.
Anyways, back to the chicken! I had my milk ready just in case my stomach cannot handle the heat like always. The chicken came in a set with one whole chicken, mini corndog, chicken radish, Pepsi and Buldak-Mayo sauce. It was said to be ready for deliver only after 1.5 hours however, it came in less than 30 minutes. I didn't even had my rice cooked to go with it yet.
First impression, the colour of the sauce was slightly lighter than the original Buldak sauce. However, the fragrant smell of cheese in that Carbo Buldak sauce was tempting. The chicken pieces were just nice in size. They were nicely coated with the sauce and still pipping hot. One bite into the chicken, I can already tell how juicy and tender the meat is.
Fortunately for me, the sauce was not as spicy as I have expected. I actually had to double dip my chicken into the sauce that was at the bottom of the box because they were so delicious. In order to not waste the sauce, I had some cooked rice drizzled with sesame oil and dried seaweed laver to make some rice ball.
The mini corndog that came as a 'service' was crunchy on the outside. It goes well with the Buldak-Mayo sauce.
Overall, two thumbs up for Mexicana Chicken's Carbo Buldak Fried Chicken. For those who likes Buldak but wants it slightly less spicy, Carbo Buldak is highly recommended!!
I think I would try the original Buldak next time. Not to brag but I feel that Carbo Buldak is less spicier than I thought, I guess the spiciness level I can take has improved :)
2. 어른의 맛 티라미수 (GS25) - 2,500won
Okay now, something sweet! I had this tiramisu cup from GS25 called 어른의 맛 티라미수. A rough translation would be "Tiramisu - The taste for adult/grownups" I guess they named it that way because of the strong coffee taste. I wasn't expecting a lot from this dessert because the desserts I always have from the convenience store is overly sweet.
This was not an exception. I was sweet too but quite delicious I would say. Remember, you MUST chill it in the fridge before consuming! It taste so much better! The portion of the tiramisu was okay, the flavour was on point too.
However, the downside of the tiramisu was its price. It was expensive for me. But I guess tiramisu is a delicate and exotic dessert here in Korea hence the premium price. You can give it a try if you are craving for a few bites of tiramisu. The amount of calorie was not as high as I've expected too (242kcal).
3. Corn-Mayo Sausage Baguette 콘마요소시지바게트 (GS25) - 2,700won
Another new release by GS25 this month was the Corn-Mayo Sausage Baguette. I am extremely in love with a sausage baguette from Paris Baguette. It was my breakfast almost every morning when I started my first semester at Yonsei University. It costs 3,200won if I remembered correctly. If I were to recommend one bread from Paris Baguette to you, I would definitely recommend this!
So, this convenience store version of sausage baguette taste sooooo similar to the one I had and I AM SHOCKED! The bread was slightly crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. The sausage was tasty and the corn-mayo on top was packed in a generous amount! Not to mention the size of the bread was only slightly smaller than the one from PB but the price is different by 500won!
I would really really love to recommend this to anyone who loves sausage bread and mayo. Those who like ketchup (me for example LOL), can eat this with some ketchup. It doesn't hurt! I am truly impressed by this new release from GS25, good job! I wanted to take a photo after I had my first bite but I ate all of it without realising I hadn't taken the photo...It was too late when I realised because I was already chewing the last bite.
