[F&B review] #3 Mango 3-ways in South Korea 3가지의 망고맛

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

My favorite fruit is mango and durian. I know durian is hard to get in South Korea, and it is hard to see in local supermarkets. Mango on the other hand, is expensive but is easier to spot in South Korea. I was craving for mango so much lately (the only fruits I have been eating in South Korea were grapes, strawberries and mandarins) I caught myself looking out for mango these days. Besides that, I've also noticed that a few new beverage launched in South Korea are mango flavored. Hence, I've decided to try them out!

  1. Real Mango Milk 리얼망고우유 (GS25) - 1,600won

On the last week of May, GS25 launched a fruit milk with mango and strawberry. As many of you know, strawberries were sooooo widely available during winter in South Korea, I have been eating strawberries for a few months, so I decided not to try strawberry. The milk drink was 1,600won each.

My first concern was that the milk might be too sweet because it is a drink from convenience store. But to my surprise, it wasn't too sweet at all, there is also some mango flesh inside of the drink! It is best to consume when it is chilled because the milk was kinda thick with the mango, so it tasted more like yogurt drink instead.

I definitely recommend this drink if you like yogurt and mango. I can't drink something too sweet but this was okay for me. I think the drink was also appropriately priced.

2. Gong Cha Mango QQ Milktea 공차 QQ 밀크티 - 4,900won

It is no secret to say that Gong Cha is the most popular milk tea chain store in South Korea. Just by looking at their ambassador timeline, the most popular artist can be found on the posters of Gong Cha. We have had Lee Seung-gi, Park Seo-jun, Lee Jong-suk and now, the latest model is SF9's Ro Woon.

I've tried the Mango QQ Milktea. The sugar level was adjustable, however the ice level was not. I normally like my Gong Cha with no ice but I guess there is a reason for them to put ice in. As expected, the drink was on the sweeter side, even at 30% sugar. There are some mango jam(?)/syrup, pearl and coconut jelly. Overall, it is not bad but it was on the sweeter side. If you can take sweet stuff, Gong Cha will definitely satisfy your taste bud! I appreciate the ice they put inside so much LOL

If you take a look at the official Instagram of Gong Cha Korea, there is FULL of advertisement and posts of their latest series of mango flavored beverages. There is also a new short advertisement featuring Ro Woon that appears in Instagram, Facebook and Youtube so often in South Korea these days.

3. The REAL Mango 생망고

Fruits are so expensive in South Korea so I have not tried many of them. However, mango was still not that bad in terms of price so I decided to try them. These mangoes are from Thailand. I noticed that the mangoes' seed is soooo thin when I cut them.

The peeler that I have at home does not work as well when I peel skin of fruits that is soft. So I just cut the mango in half and slice the fruit with its skin intact. It was so good. It was really sweet and the mango's flesh was thick. 역시 the real mango is the best. I miss the amount of mangoes that I can eat in a day in Malaysia :(
